Hello, I'm Lauren Smyth

Irish dance has been my life for over 30 years. Since first watching 'Riverdance' in 1994, touring the world professionally and becoming a Principal Dancer with 'Riverdance' was always my dream.

My belief in my vision is what kept me motivated through the times of adversity.

My Story

I started dancing at the age of 4 with the Festival tradition of Irish dance. This tradition of Irish dance, predominantly based in Northern Ireland has great depth. Dancers are encouraged to dance with purpose & infuse emotion into their performance. The unique qualities instilled in me as a young girl have always stood by me in my years as a professional dancer & teacher.

In 2006 after much competitive success I left school & applied for 'Riverdance' but was unsuccessful. Determined to gain experience & build confidence elsewhere I joined 'Rhythm of the Dance' where I toured the world extensively for 3 years performing the lead role. This experience was invaluable.
In 2009 I felt that it was time to apply for 'Riverdance' again. My success the second time round enabled me to fulfil my life long ambition. I am the first female from the Festival tradition to become a Principal dancer with the show & I've been proudly leading the troupe around the world since 2011.

Staying true to myself, believing in my vision & having a growth mindset have been key to achieving my dreams in life & because of this I'm passionate about inspiring dancers of every ability to have the confidence to go after their dreams.

I believe my purpose is to continue making a difference within the Irish dancing community through sharing my unique teaching style, choreography & story of perseverance.
